1) This question is answered in the cocoon documentation. The servlet
2.2 API does not support it.

2) This question, if you must ask it, is better asked on the cocoon-users 
list. cocoon-dev is for developers of cocoon itself, not just any developer 
using cocoon.

However, I wouldn't say it's impossible. Just that you would have to do an 
ugly hack like writing an XSP page to make a request to the servlet.

If you can possibly do so, it will probably be much easier and more 
efficient for you to reimplement the servlet as a Cocoon generator (either a 
custom Java class or an XSP page).
