Which is I guess why it gets returned from a 
divide by zero NaN! And the unicode people
were probably careful to ensure that when
represented in ASCII - ie strip the high
bits, it comes out to a kind of appropriate 
character '?'

Quite cool when you think about it. 

Obviously I've worked around the initial 
problem, (check for zero denominator - doh!)
and as long as this issue is still
on people's radars for the future I guess we
don't have a problem...
