Did you remove the HW Address and UUID settings also?

[root@csman1-1 ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
[root@csman1-1 ~]#

Remove those lines. Also remove /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
and give it a reboot.
