Review posted at https://reviews.apache.org/r/25258/ (if you're not happy reviewing the Marvin
code let me know and I'll find someone here who can do so and then commit it for me).

Re: error message - your suggestion looks sensible to me, though I think it is probably quite
a corner case so probably not a big deal either way!

has caused the BVT test integration.smoke.test_volumes.TestVolumes.test_07_resize_fail to
start failing with:
