@Logan - I think your solution works most of the time as long as there is resilience/redundancy
in the management network to the hosts.  so I can see two potential problems - one physical
- if there is only one link into the host for management and it is lost then it would fail
all tests but the VMs would still be up. - and one in the OS - if the cloudbr for management
went down the same would happen.

The first would be avoided by good design. I'm not sure how likely the second is anyway.
