Andrey Padiy commented on CLOUDSTACK-528:
-----------------------------------------

I have tried setting name to NULL and the process gets further. I can now see the following
queries hitting MySQL

* SELECT host_pod_ref.id, host_pod_ref.name, host_pod_ref.data_center_id, host_pod_ref.gateway,
host_pod_ref.cidr_address, host_pod_ref.cidr_size, host_pod_ref.description, host_pod_ref.allocation_state,
host_pod_ref.external_dhcp, host_pod_ref.removed, host_pod_ref.uuid FROM host_pod_ref WHERE
host_pod_ref.data_center_id = 1  AND host_pod_ref.name  IS NULL  AND host_pod_ref.removed
IS NULL  ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 1;

Again, because of "AND host_pod_ref.name IS NULL" nothing is returned.

Setting host_pod_ref.name to NULL and trying to add secondary storage I see this query :

SELECT host.id, host.disconnected, host.name, host.status, host.type, host.private_ip_address,
host.private_mac_address, host.private_netmask, host.public_netmask, host.public_ip_address,
host.public_mac_address, host.storage_ip_address, host.cluster_id, host.storage_netmask, host.storage_mac_address,
host.storage_ip_address_2, host.storage_netmask_2, host.storage_mac_address_2, host.hypervisor_type,
host.proxy_port, host.resource, host.fs_type, host.available, host.setup, host.resource_state,
host.hypervisor_version, host.update_count, host.uuid, host.data_center_id, host.pod_id, host.cpus,
host.url, host.speed, host.ram, host.parent, host.guid, host.capabilities, host.total_size,
host.last_ping, host.mgmt_server_id, host.dom0_memory, host.version, host.created, host.removed
FROM host WHERE host.guid  IS NULL  AND host.removed IS NULL  ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 1;

And again because of "WHERE host.guid IS NULL" no results returned.

I stopped there and I dont want to set host.guid to NULL

> The Zone ID matches but API throws exception while the IS is supplied in the query.
> Scenario:
> I have upgraded from 3.0.2 to 4.0.0. Due to the upgrade scripts did not update the systemVMs
to the new template I've applied a workaround and recreated the systemVMs with the new templates.
After that I've enabled storage clean-up and the cleanup script destroyed everything on my
primary storage including systemVMs. I wanted to re-create them but cannot add secondary storage
to the Zone.
> The applied workarounds during upgrade:
> 1. Add new vmware template to CS with name systemvm-vmware-4.0 (I have re-imported it)
2. Wait till the template is downloaded and installed successfully
> 3. Look up id of this template in DB (Name should match the input provided in step
> mysql> select id from `cloud`.`vm_template` where name =
> mysql> 'systemvm-vmware-4.0' and removed is null;
> 4. Update template type to SYSTEM
> mysql> update `cloud`.`vm_template` set type='SYSTEM' where id =
> mysql> <id-from-step3>;
> 5. Update template Id for all system Vms
> mysql> update `cloud`.`vm_instance` set vm_template_id = <id-from-step3>
> mysql> where type <> 'User' and hypervisor_type = 'VMware';
> 6. Restart all system Vms
