Adrian A. commented on CLK-502:
-------------------------------

Hi Henry,

> I think YUI is a good library ...
For most of our user needs, Nicedit would have been a much better alternative (see the advantages
mentioned in the issue and on the old mailing lists about this theme), if ... only if would
have been maintained :).
When I submitted this issue, Nicedit was growing, and may projects adopted it (even commercial
ones), because it was so fast, lightweight but with enough features.

It is still very important to have a smaller alternative to YUI, for 80% of use cases, but
there's seems to be none so far that is license compatible (TinyMCE was used a lot before,
but it's not license compatible) :(.

> Please replace the YUI WYSIWYG with something much much better smaller (<10x), e.g.
like NicEdit:
> NicEdit looks much better as a Click Control than the YUI one:
> - it's much much smaller(~30k compared to ~500k for YUI)
> - the license is also compatible (MIT)
> - it's also very simple to make the replacement (see the demos and docs).
> I think this would be a much better example for the users too (not just for speed and
download reasons), because, it's much simpler to develop a plug-in for it (in case it's required).
> Thank you,
> A.
