Subject [jira] Commented: (CHUKWA-395) wrapping adaptors for reliability
Date Thu, 03 Dec 2009 10:06:21 GMT

Ari Rabkin commented on CHUKWA-395:
-----------------------------------

This patch incorporates a fair bit of cleanup and consolidation of test code. The "generate
test file" code that was previously duplicated in several tests has been factored out. But
there aren't actually significant functional changes to existing code.

Since the patch passes unit tests and doesn't involve significant functional changes, I intend
to commit this, barring objection.

> We don't currently deliver anything other than logs reliably. I propose to create a new
"wrapping" adaptor, to be named Buffered.
> So you'll be able to say "add Buffered UDPListener 90xy".
> This is going to require some fairly modest refactoring inside ChukwaAgent.processAddCommand,
to tease apart the logic for creating Adaptors from the logic for starting them. I think it
won't be too bad.
