Writer.add() throws exception if there is a problem.  I think if add method is called without
exception, it means data is committed properly.  If the data is not on disk, the bug should
be fixed inside the add method rather than changing the return code because return code does
not improve validation.  If it fails, throws WriterException is more proper.
