Subject [jira] Commented: (CHUKWA-307) Refactor database to use lightweight scheme
Date Thu, 18 Jun 2009 16:40:07 GMT

Jerome Boulon commented on CHUKWA-307:

My 2 cents ...
If the goal is just to reduce the complexity of deploy chukwa without having to carry the
weight of mysql why not just replacing mysql with derbyDB?
Chukwa could comes pre-configured with a derbyDB?

Also If it's for small deployment then doing an alter table add column should not take that
long, correct? so why can't we do that automatically from MDL?

Serving data directly from HDFS in my mind is specifically needed for log files not necessarily
for metrics. Hbase will not give you all the group by/join that are still useful for metrics
information. Pig/Hive will give you that but are not real time...
