Subject RE: CMIS Interop Demo
Date Tue, 25 Jan 2011 10:12:42 GMT
Not really something specific, but following thoughts are driving me:
 - Workbench is not the prettiest client, but a client anyone can use, try and understand.
It is independent from any of the vendors and would be neutral.
 - Our test repositories again are not for "real use" but they are quickly to set up and they
prove that the standard implementation can be simple. All other repos are heavier elephants,
this adds an additional dimension to CMIS.
 - The fact that we have Apache support for CMIS is a cool thing. It gives more trust, because
Apache is not a Marketing organization demoing fakes.
- There will be many attendees not yet having CMIS support but thinking about it. Demonstrating
what we have with Chemistry might be helpful for them. Yes demoing the javadoc is not cool
and this is not a dev conference. But look at stuff like Florent's presentations at ApacheCon.
I still see some value.

I don't have in mind making a big Apache happening there, it can also be something that just
some of us are there showing what we have. All in all I think we provide value, there is no
reason to hide this. And I am just curious to have the discussion here listening what others
think and how other projects here deal with such things. So any comment is good.

Jens

Do you have something specific in mind?
The CMIS Workbench is not the pretties client and demoing an API is
rather difficult.

to be self-supporting. To offset expenses, each confirmed participant will be asked to contribute
to cover these expenses. Expenses will vary based on the needs determined after the group
agrees to move forward - but may include: equipment rental, internet connectivity, food and
beverage, etc... The number of confirmed participants will also play a role in determining
the expenses.
