This commit causes https://cassci.datastax.com/view/Dev/view/aweisberg/job/aweisberg-CASSANDRA-12358-trunk-testall/1/testReport/junit/org.apache.cassandra.io.sstable/CQLSSTableWriterTest/testUnsetValues/
to hard fail near as I can tell. I bisected and reverted this change and the test started
passing.
