Subject [jira] [Resolved] (CASSANDRA-5640) Allow JOIN on partition key for tables in the same keyspace
Date Fri, 18 Mar 2016 20:07:33 GMT

Aleksey Yeschenko resolved CASSANDRA-5640.
------------------------------------------
    Resolution: Later

This would be nice to have indeed, but getting it right is not trivial at all.

Furthermore, given the limitations (same ks, same partition key), a very limited # of data
models would be able to utilise the functionality - making it not working in most cases more
confusing.

Resolving as Later for now.

> People whine about there not being any JOIN in CQL a lot. I was thinking we could add
JOIN with the restriction that you can only join on partition key, and only if the tables
are in the same keyspace. That way it could be done local to each node, and would not need
to be a true distributed join.
