Subject [jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-9980) test_eat_glass in cqlsh_tests fails on windows
Date Thu, 06 Aug 2015 16:11:05 GMT

Paulo Motta commented on CASSANDRA-9980:

There were two problems here:
# The test used a date before 1970, so it was hitting [CASSANDRA-10000|].
After that is merged, this problem will be fixed.
# Default system encoding for English Windows is *not* utf-8, differently from Linux, so that's
why the strange characters were not being printed correctly in the terminal. This [dtest PR|]
uses the new cqlsh option {{--encoding}} (provided by [CASSANDRA-10004|])
to enforce utf-8 during this test.

The code excerpt below shows the default encoding for English Windows systems:
C:\> python -c 'import locale; print locale.getpreferredencoding()'

It has been failing for a very long time. We've looked into it before, but haven't figured
it out. Cqlsh does not return anything on the following query:
> {code}
> self.assertEquals(output.count('Можам да јадам стакло, а не ме
штета.'), 16)
> {code}
