Like I said, I'd _really_ rather not merge GlobalTidy and TypeTidy, but can if you're really
set on it. By doing so we trade some slight class hierarchy simplcity for special casing,
and the latter always leads to problems further down the line. I'll offer up a version with
the XManager classes removed for now, and see where that gets us.
