For what it's worth, I do think this would be a nice feature to have. Many people are unhappy
with JMX (and I can't blame them) and so I think we should consider making it less mandatory.
And since we have full query language along with a nice protocol to go with it, I don't see
why we wouldn't reuse that for that purpose.

That said, I'm not saying this is the most urgent thing ever, and I do think the way to get
there is through CASSANDRA-7622, so I'd be personally fine marking this as a duplicate of
the latter.
