Subject [jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-8385) Clean up generics in uses of AbstractType

Sylvain Lebresne commented on CASSANDRA-8385:
---------------------------------------------

While I'm not absolutely against this in principle, this will make rebases of CASSANDRA-8099
(and probably other outstanding work) *very* painful to rebase if committed now (CASSANDRA-6717
might also be impacted amongst other). And since it's more nitpicking than critical, I ask
that this is *not* committed either until just before the 3.0 freeze when we know no big outstanding
patch are out there, or very early in 3.1 when we've branched it out.

> Almost all uses of AbstractType are from code that doesn't know or care what the specific
type is and would be better served by a non-generic version of the concept.
