Pre-Java 8 there really isn't much support for microsecond resolution in the Java ecosystem.
 I'd prefer we add equivalent (to the current) resolution Date and Time types immediately
and look at introducing high-resolution types w/a dependency on Java 8 as a separate effort,
giving the new version some time to stabilize.
