Or, alternatively, we just don't invent new unnecessary concepts (batch reads) to justify
hypothetical things we could do that nobody asked us for.

RAMP *does* sound very useful for proper global indexes and materialized views, however. If
RAMP in C* is at all feasible, then maybe we should start with a proper implementation of
global indexes (based on RAMP) rather than wasting time on a EC solution that will be thrown
out eventually?
