Your case was working because of this "String.getBytes()" bug. CfMetaData's key validator
is used everywhere else in the code - essentially why you have to use the "assume" commands
in cqlsh and the "hex()" function on the cassandra-cli. 

If you convert your string to the hex representation to pass to nodetool as an argument, it
should work fine.
