Subject [jira] [Created] (CASSANDRA-6459) Concurrency issue in Directories.getOrCreate()
Date Fri, 06 Dec 2013 22:53:35 GMT
Ryan Fowler created CASSANDRA-6459:

             Summary: Concurrency issue in Directories.getOrCreate()
                 Key: CASSANDRA-6459
             Project: Cassandra
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Core
         Environment: 1.2 2.0
            Reporter: Ryan Fowler

We're seeing an FSWriteError sometimes during repairs. I think it's because two threads are
calling Directories.getOrCreate() on the same directory at about the same time. File.mkdirs()
returns false if the directory already exists.

A patch is forthcoming.

Here's the exception we get:

ERROR 2013-12-06 09:31:45,217 [Thread-11051] CassandraDaemon Exception in thread Thread[Thread-11051,5,main]

        at org.apache.cassandra.db.ColumnFamilyStore.addSSTables(
        at org.apache.cassandra.streaming.StreamInSession.closeIfFinished(

Someone else appears to have seen the same thing a while back:

Here's someone that's had a similar problem:
