Subject [jira] [Updated] (CASSANDRA-5881) Need "describe cluster;" functionality in nodetool or cqlsh
Date Sun, 18 Aug 2013 17:58:48 GMT

Lyuben Todorov updated CASSANDRA-5881:

    Attachment: 5881.patch

Output example:

Works without using CliMain or CliClient. Builds a thriftClient in NodeCmd (maybe refactor
this to happen in some form of client factory?) and accesses the rpcport via DatabaseDescriptor.
The output is littered with info from DatabaseDescriptor, one option to fix this is change
the logger level to DEBUG, another is to retrieve the rpcport a different way (suggestions?).

> In order to be able to completely get rid of cassandra-cli we still need something like
"describe cluster;" callable from nodetool or cqlsh. Describe cluster is different from just
querying the system tables in cqlsh in that it actually contacts each node. Having a command
which does that is useful.
