Subject [jira] [Created] (CASSANDRA-5176) Binary protocol should respond with RESULT message to REGISTER request
Date Sun, 20 Jan 2013 23:24:13 GMT
Matt Stump created CASSANDRA-5176:
-------------------------------------

Summary: Binary protocol should respond with RESULT message to REGISTER request
                 Key: CASSANDRA-5176
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-5176
             Project: Cassandra
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: API
            Reporter: Matt Stump
            Priority: Minor

The native binary protocol responds with READY to a REGISTER event. This means the READY message
has two separate meanings. One being that the connection is READY for use, and the second
being that the events were registered successfully.

It makes more sense to respond instead with a RESULT, as the message is a response to a user
request, and makes it possible to reuse event dispatch code already required when implementing
drivers.
