Subject [jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-4482) In-memory merkle trees for repair
Date Tue, 14 Aug 2012 15:09:38 GMT

Jonathan Ellis commented on CASSANDRA-4482:

bq. If you've lready xor'd all these together, S does include the hash of your existing row
A. Updating A to A' hashes A'

Right, I'm saying that given S-including-hash-of-A, what you want is to take A *out* when
you add A'. Otherwise, if you have a node that (correctly) has A', but doesn't know about
A (maybe it was compacted out before it got to build S), then it won't agree on the same state
S even though it has the same data.
