So regarding ARM, etc., should this be reopened or a new issue created?

As for FreeBSD, I have no experience at all with it. Unless someone else volunteers to help
with that, I'd like to fix ARM/Linux now and keep the FreeBSD issue separate (as I could envision
that languishing indefinitely).
