I'm in agreement that redefining COUNT() this way was a bad idea (my bad idea, really).  The
fact that we have "transposed" support available to let us do this the correct way means that
we should correct this as soon as possible, in my opinion.

+1 on mimicking the SQL representation of a SELECT COUNT() result.
