I did not explain exactly.  

Try 

cqlsh> update foo set 'fmd:test' = 'foo' where key = 'test';
Unmatched named substitution: 'test' not given for update foo set 'fmd:test' = 'foo' where
key = 'test';

You can not escape a colon.
