Subject [jira] Commented: (CASSANDRA-1693) add cli support for assuming CF comparator, validator
Date Tue, 09 Nov 2010 15:04:21 GMT

Pavel Yaskevich commented on CASSANDRA-1693:

I think I overdid here...

so syntax will be simpler:

ASSUME COMPARATOR <columnFamily> AS <preferredType> DEFAULT <defaultType>

also for sub_comparator:
ASSUME SUB_COMPARATOR <columnFamily> AS <preferredType> DEFAULT <defaultType>

for validator it will be:
ASSUME VALIDATOR <columnFamily> AS <preferredType> DEFAULT <defaultType>

and for keys:
ASSUME KEYS of <columnFamily> AS <preferredType> DEFAULT <defaultType>

What do you think?

> Similar to what we did for CASSANDRA-1603 for column-level metadata, we'd like to be
able to add client-side metadata for a CF w/o actually updating the CF definition. Suggestions
for syntax?
