Subject [jira] Commented: (CASSANDRA-1491) Allow queries to the snitch via JMX
Date Wed, 22 Sep 2010 22:33:33 GMT

Brandon Williams commented on CASSANDRA-1491:

You'll only have one type of snitch in the cluster, but you'll have one for each keyspace.
Presumably all of them would provide the IES in the MBean, but having them decoupled allows
them to expose other snitch-specific info (such as getScores in DES) if they choose.

> The Ripcord team wishes upon a star that there was a way to make queries to a cluster's
Snitch using JMX or the cassandra API. As in, exposing the getRack() and getDatacenter()
calls. This would allow our monitoring and control software to have a similar idea about
"where" nodes are as the cluster itself, and improve visualization.
