File descriptor leak in CommitLog
---------------------------------

                 Key: CASSANDRA-313
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-313
             Project: Cassandra
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Core
    Affects Versions: 0.3, 0.4, 0.5
Environment: Debian lenny, 64 bit, openjdk-1.6.0
            Reporter: Brandon Williams
         Attachments: patch

There is a file descriptor leak in CommitLog.java. On systems with a default ulimit of 1024,
this causes Cassandra to eventually crash due to too many open files. A descriptor appears
to be leaked at each memtable rotation.
