If its the reference which is passed, then i don't think so it will have
performance issues.
But I doubt that.

Probably you can check that out by modifying copy of same objects in 2
different routes. Add a delay in one route and modify the same in another
route. If its by reference, the change made in the first route should be
available to the second route.

If its not by reference, it will be advice able to use a jaxb marshaller and
handle the data as xml between routes. 

Am not sure about the best practice. Maybe you can take opinion from Claus.
