Hadrian Zbarcea commented on CAMEL-6984:
----------------------------------------

Matt, I understand the requirement, how it would help and how it would be used. Such stats
have operations and business impact and as such are, in my experience, very application or
environment dependent. In camel terms, one needs Expressions that evaluate to relevant metrics.
You named body size, but it could be many others. So I understand you would like camel to
provide out of the box Expression that evaluate to the body size for a subset of known types
(String, byte[], etc, because in the general case it may be non trivial to compute). Given
the application specific scope, I personally see little value to provide that in camel. However,
blogging about how to do it may be an interesting and useful thing. WDYT?

> It would be really handy to have something like ${body}.size in the framework, so you
don't have to write a processor just to obtain payload size.
