Hi Nick-

What version of Java is this?  This message:

     Annotation processing got disabled, since it requires a 1.6 
compliant JVM

suggests it's either very old or very new.  We usually use 1.7 or 1.8, 
sometimes 1.6.

If you're building from source it's probably better to use master branch 
(070-snapshot) rather than 070-M1.  See instructions at:

https://brooklyn.incubator.apache.org/v/0.7.0-SNAPSHOT/use/examples/webcluster/index.html

Or you can download a binary for M1.
