Subject [jira] [Commented] (BROOKLYN-82) REST api should have unauthenticated health-check call
Date Mon, 27 Oct 2014 16:01:33 GMT

Alex Heneveld commented on BROOKLYN-82:

currently if authentication is turned on it is required in all cases (except the simple localhost
mode). i'd like to keep that as it is a simpler security model.

what we could do is a special entitlement for health-check (eg `serverStatusOnly()` similar
to `readOnly()` in `Entitlements`), that way there can be one set of credentials nagios could

would that be an acceptable resolution?

> The Brooklyn REST api should include a simple call for heartbeat monitoring (e.g. by
Nagios). This should not require authentication, and be light-weight so it can be easily integrated
into the customer's choice of monitoring tool.
