proposed this fix: 
$cd ~/bigtop/bigtop-tests/test-execution/smokes/hadoop
add the followings to pom.xml 
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.cxf</groupId>
<artifactId>cxf-rt-frontend-jaxrs</artifactId><version>2.5.0</version>
</dependency>
