Subject [jira] [Commented] (BEAM-2100) Improve error message for shifting elements back in time
Date Thu, 04 May 2017 17:23:04 GMT

Thomas Groh commented on BEAM-2100:

Read input elements, apply group by key, attempt to assign timestamps of any value within
the global window will throw. It's not quite a one-line change to only output the "This may
be because you've applied a GroupByKey with the default OutputTimeFn"

> When an element is shifted forwards in time (often to the end of the Global Window) as
a result of a GroupByKey, they can't be reassigned the timestamps the user expects. This is
fine, but users don't understand why the elements have been shifted forwards, and we should
improve the messaging around this error.
