Technically speaking, you can use 'type' with the doc/literal style (it =
is
valid WSDL); but it doesn't make sense for 'document' style since you =
are
defining an XML document message and not a 'virtual' method =
signature...which
is why WS-I recommends against it.

>From WS-I Basic Profile 1.1:

R2203   An rpc-literal binding in a DESCRIPTION MUST refer, in its
soapbind:body element(s), only to wsdl:part element(s) that have been =
defined
using the type attribute.

R2204   A document-literal binding in a DESCRIPTION MUST refer, in each =
of
its soapbind:body element(s), only to wsdl:part element(s) that have =
been
defined using the element attribute.

I've got a wsdl that has a fault message defined with a type.

The wsdl is doc/literal. I thought this always used "element"s and not
"type"s, and now this is confirmed through this exception.

XMLspy, however, accepts the WSDL and can generate SOAP-examples. Who's
right?
