For Jetty, just copy the axis webapp to the jetty webapps directory,
then drop in your jws or compile your classes to
{jettyroot}\webapps\{YourAxisWebapp}\WEB-INF\classes  and off you go.

I would guess tomcat is similar?

I did the J2SE tutorial 1.4, the WEB-SERVICE chapter. The WAR produced
run in Sun App Server and JBoss, just copying it.
