By the way has anyone successfully used axis over tranport protocols other than HTTP? Any
help would be greatly appreaciated. I'm particularily interested in JMS.

If you are going to send an xml file consider using attachements. See below:

  Turn the objects into an XML file, compress it, and then send it?

  Or, if you just turn it into an array of simple objects, it may go
faster.
