today I downloaded a nightly snapshot of Axis 1.4 - same problem.

Is 1.4FINAL different from the nightly snapshots?

When I look at the serialized XML message then I see that some part
of the code inserts linefeeds. Axis 1.2.1 does not show this behaviour.
Some info on the mailing list said that prettyxml is disabled by default
(somehow I wonder why this sort of function was introduced in Axis in -
computers don't care abozt pretty printing).
