I'm now attaching a patch that fixes this issue - please add it to Axis as soon as appropriate!

We tried to add a unit test as well but ran into troubles, so I'm submitting this patch without
an accompanying test. I hope it'll be easy for someone who knows the Axis unit test framework
to add a test. We did verify that this patch fixes the problem with our own application specific

Here is an overview of the issue:
        Key: AXIS-1485
Summary: Axis can't handle arrays of length 1 in wrapped-style literal services
       Type: Bug

     Status: Unassigned
   Priority: Major

    Project: Axis
             1.2 Beta

   Reporter: Nelson Minar

    Created: Sun, 1 Aug 2004 3:06 PM

Environment: Linux, Java 1.4, Apache Axis CVS from 2004-08-01

I've just finally tested the resolution for bug 1376

This bug is *not* fixed, I have a simple test case that reproduces it with the CVS of 2004-08-01.
The summary is that for document/literal wrapped services, Axis can't handle arrays of length
1. This is most easily demonstrated with an Axis client but the problem exists for a server
that accepts arrays as well.

I will attach the demonstration code.
