Subject [jira] Commented: (AXIS-1062) Whitespace in serialized DOM Documents
Date Tue, 25 May 2004 08:03:01 GMT
The following comment has been added to this issue:

     Author: Oleg Zenzin
    Created: Tue, 25 May 2004 1:02 AM
       Body:
These whitespaces (i.e. "\n") arise in
org.apache.axis.encoding.SerializationContextImpl
thanks to

    private boolean pretty

The field used to insert "\n" after each xml-element as far as i investigated it. So, if somewhere
in code the string representation of xml is cashed (for example in org.apache.axis.SOAPPart)
and further reparsed to rebuild DOM - the inconsistency comes about. An attempt to recover
from this i found in
org.apache.axis.message.SOAPBody.outputImpl(SerializationContext context)
But it seems does not worked out.

Best regards, Oleg Zenzin

Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: AXIS-1062
Summary: Whitespace in serialized DOM Documents
       Type: Bug

     Status: Open

    Project: Axis
 Components:
             Serialization/Deserialization
   Versions:
             1.1

   Assignee: Axis Developers Mailing List
   Reporter: Sebastian Michel

    Created: Tue, 16 Sep 2003 3:12 PM
    Updated: Tue, 25 May 2004 1:02 AM
Environment: Operating System: Windows XP
Platform: PC

Description:
Theres probably a bug in the serialization of DOM documents. In the
deserialized Documents there is some extra whitespace that wasn't in Document
when it has been sended from the web service. I think its a problem with the
serialization of DOM Elements so that whitespace will be generated during
serialization on the web service side and then the whitespace won't be removed
from this document on the client side.
