Ias,
Thanks for the patch!  A few comments/questions:

JAX-RPC 1.1 maps a good number of Schema types that we have custom classes for 
to java.lang.String.  That is going to cause some problems. :-(

I noticed that you have Date and Time type mappings in the JAX-RPC 1.1 
section, which will be overwritten by the Schema specific registration of date 
and time.  This code is order dependant (last one registered 'wins'), did you 
look at this carefully? This is a very confusing problem.

The Geronimo code looks to be uncessary, as you wrap the reference to the URI 
type in a try/catch.  Do we really need this code?
