getmaintainSession with HttpSession does nothing

           Summary: getmaintainSession with HttpSession does nothing
           Product: Axis
           Version: 1.1rc2
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Basic Architecture
        AssignedTo: axis-dev@ws.apache.org
        ReportedBy: kevinj@develop.com

I deploy a server with no specific session handlers

In the server if i call getMaintainSession (and do nothing else) I don't get a
session
If I call getSession (with or without getMaintainSession) I don't get a session
If I touch the session (call session.get()) with or without getMaintainSession I
now get a session

Seems like getMaintainSession does nothing

WSDD

    <service name="Sessions" provider="java:RPC" style="wrapped">
        <namespace>urn:kevinj:Sessions</namespace>
        <parameter name="className" value="kevinj.UseSessions"/>
        <parameter name="allowedMethods" value="*"/>
    </service>

Code

        MessageContext mc = MessageContext.getCurrentContext();
        mc.setMaintainSession(true);
        Session session = mc.getSession();
        String name = (String)session.get("name");
