Subject Re: RC Release work items

Would it be possible to reinstate the posting of the weekly chats
to the mailing list? While I don't disagree that "now" is the time for
1.0 this note did seem to come out of the blue - and leaving people
little more than a week to propose (and possibly complete) any additional
1.0 items doesn't seem quite fair to the non-24x7-irc-chat developers.
Plus, a simple "Do people think it's time?" note to axis-dev before
hand would have been even more appropriate, no?

ps. Of course, if all this did happen and I just missed it then "never
mind" :-)

Subject: RC Release work items

In order to move Axis to a 1.0 release sooner, we would like to release 1.0
RC1 on Thursday, Sept 5, 2002.

We have a planned target for cutting a 1.0 release on or around Friday Sept
13, 2002.

Here are the action items discussed today for kit building (by Tom J)

    Review critical bugs

    Release manager:
label CVS (1_0rc1), build kits, upload, update web site

    Update users guide and examples
Update image factory to look for JDK 1.4, Jimi, JDK 1.3 APIs
Work with Sam on the TCK

Write up how to publish a document/literal service for users guide
    Clean release notes

Update the developers guide with test suite info
Throw switch to use component build.xml files in al builds

Fix Roundtrip test so Matt can switch build (fix already found)

Add 'kit' target to top level build to tar/zip files for upload

Write up text on 1.0 release rationale for web site
