Well, for debugging purposes, it helped me when I could tell that the
introspection had walked up the inheritance stack to java.lang.Object
rather than just telling me that it didn't have a serializer.  But in
general, I agree.

Why do we regiser a serializer for "java.lang.Object" but then in that
serializer do nothing but thrown an exception saying we can't serialize a
"raw" object ?  Shouldn't we remove the registration of that serializer and
just let it say there is no serializer for the object we're trying to
serialize?
