The top Makefile.am contains the following lines:

dist-hook:
=09rm -rf `find $(distdir)/ -type d -name .svn`
...

This makes the process of creating patches of the build system unnecessary =
harder, as it requires to have a separate checkout elsewhere.

I understand the need to avoid to have .svn directory in releases archives.=
 But the problem may be at a higher level: releases should not be made from=
 an 'svn checkout' but instead from an 'svn export' with controlled revisio=
n number (a release tag), to avoid making a package using files which are m=
issing from the repository.

So please remove the 'rm .svn' line.
