Fred Preston resolved AXISCPP-850:
----------------------------------

    Resolution: Fixed

I now believe this to be complete. I've written a Unit Test to check the function (UT_ValidXMLCharIsInterpretedAsCPPCommand).

compiler even though it is a valid XML character

> Not all valid XML character that can be used in a name are benign when translated into
C/C++. For example if a name contains a '.' this will be interpreted by the C compiler and
will lead to errors and or unexpected behaviour. For example, if an element name is defined
as follows:-
> <xsd:element name="jack.frost" type="xsd:string"/>
> Then this will produce the following code:
> xsd__string jack.frost;
> And where it is used:
> jack.frost = "freezing";
> The solution to this problem is to replace all 'C/C++ significant', but valid XML characters
with one benign characters such as '_'. Thus:-
> xsd__string jack.frost;
> Becomes:-
> xsd__string jack_frost;
