Thanks for making the plans clear this is a great move :-) Hmm, there appears to have been a slip from "late November" to early December. This will have two ramifications: 1. Customers reliant on 1.4 end of November dates. Customers can view date slippage as very serious. It's a sign that things are being crammed in. We should avoid date slippage as much as possible. I tried to get the 1.4 and 1.5 plans out in the open way in advance of 1.3 finishing so that we could discuss the dates and agree them in advance to avoid slipping. 2. C support due in 1.5 - The 1.4 C++ engine work will be ready in time for late November and we can't really start working on the 1.5 C support until we have a true 1.4 release. Thus the 1.4 slipping is reducing the 1.5 time available unless we slip 1.5 (which I'm not happy to do because of point one :-) Having said all that. At the moment we (IBM) can afford to slip the November date but we'd like to see the 1.5 really remain as close to end of Jan as possible. We (IBM) are going to concentrate on bug fixing and XML/SOAP support in this period as there are way too many issues in JIRA for us to be happy with the support levels. Anything we can do to maintain stability e.g. reduce new function until we are stable would be a great help ;-) Other issues - Assuming date is still end of November - We (IBM) can't do the fault handling work in 1.4. so, unless anyone else can then this is not in 1.4. The fault handling work is a nice to have I think. The fault handling is working today so I'm loath to break it now. thanks for the info - please keep it coming. As long as we communicate on the list then we'll all be able to understand where we stand and avoid confusion :-) speak to you soon, John.
