Hi Damitha,
   I too agree that if we have only Makefile.am in CVS, one would not be able to build on
all
Linux variants. However, we can make sure that we generate the Makefile.in only when we want
to
package and distibute. This way the commiters would have to use a machine on which the make
tools
work. But users will not face any problem as we generate the Makefile.in files before release.

   Also, with nightly builds comming up, we can also package a source bundle with Makefile.in
files and give it away.
